Transforming ideas into stunning visual paintings.

Kenneth Joslin was born on June 8, 1967 in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Lynwood, CA. His paintings are created in California, where he works full time. Kenneth was recognized at an early age for his creative drive and was inspired by his elementary and high school teachers. Encouraged by family and friends, Kenneth studied art throughout secondary school. After high school graduation, he attended Otis Parsons College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA, where he majored in Illustration and Painting. Kenneth admires artist such as Jacob Lawrence, George A. Hunt, Joseph Holston, William Tolliver, and Robert Gwathmey. His work has been described as "liberating" and "powerful." His use of bold color and heavily-textured canvas create an energy of movement on the canvas and are unique to his painting style, enticing the viewer to step closer to his work.
An artist who believes in staying true to his vision, Kenneth paints subjects he enjoys and is passionate about, rather than choosing themes which might be more "marketable" for the moment. Today, Kenneth's work can be seen in homes, and notable businesses and corporate conglomerates nationwide; as well as in the collections of notable individuals, including Michael Jordan (N.B.A.) Legend.

About Artwork
The history of the Afro hairstyle is rooted in African traditions where hair symbolized identity, status, and spirituality. During slavery, this symbolism was used for resistance, with styles like cornrows encoding escape routes, despite slave owners' attempts to force straight hairstyles and denigrate Black hair. The modern Afro became a prominent symbol of Black pride and activism during the Civil Rights and Black Power movements of the 1960s and 70s, as a direct rejection of Eurocentric beauty standards.
